The article builds upon considerations raised by the 2013 special double issue of the International Social Security Review to provide evidence with regard to challenges and opportunities for the implementation of national floors of social protection (SPF). The authors wish to acknowledge the authors of the SPF assessment reports upon which this article is based; namely, Michael Cichon, Florence Bonnet, Carlos Galian, Gintare Mazeikaite, Jean-Claude Hennicot, Wolfgang Scholz, Sinta Satriana, Dr Thaworn Sakunphanit, Orawan Prasitsiriphol, and the many others who contributed to the compilation and production of each respective report.
