The Eighth Workshop on the Neurobiology of Epilepsy, held under the auspices of the Neurobiology Commission of the International League Against Epilepsy, will take place in France as a satellite meeting of the ILAE congress in 2005. This meeting will bring together approximately 40 participants to present and discuss recent discoveries and advances in understanding the neurobiology of epilepsy as it relates to the meeting's theme “Seizure Predispostion and Epileptogenesis.” The meeting will be held August 24 to 26, 2005. Participants will be selected on the basis of submitted abstracts and how these abstracts fit the theme of the meeting. The meeting is designed to allow ample time for discussion of the new research and its implications for future investigation and our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of epilepsy. The participation of young investigators is strongly encouraged. Although there are no costs to the participants while attending the meeting, transportation costs to and from the meeting site will not be covered.
