The vascular patterns in the testes of 49 different species of mammals have been examined, chiefly by the methods of arteriography and microarteriography. It is found that these patterns show a considerable morphological stability in different groups of mammals, and may thus be of some taxonomic importance.
The literature is reviewed and suggestions made as to the functional importance of the pattern of the vascular supply of the testis as part of a thermo-regulatory mechanism
