SUMMARY.

  • 1Oligochaete worms believed all to be representative of one species of Chaetogaster, quite probably C. limnaei, were found in four Merent kinds of fresh-water snails, namely, Biomphalaria, Physopsis, Bulinus and Melanoides.
  • 2Amphistome, echinostome, longifurcate and brevifurcate cercariae were observed in the intestine of various individuals as well as two different xiphidiocercariae.
  • 3This is believed to be possibly the first record of the occurrence in South Africa of a Chaetogaster which preys on larval trematodes.
