In [1], the Results and Conclusion in this abstract were incorrect as a result of the software errors described by the author below:

The software assumed that both atrial pieces of tissue were stimulated simultaneously. This was true for the set up with a previous stimulator. However, before the experiments were performed as reported in the abstract, we bought a new stimulator unit and used a setting that did not synchronize the stimulation of the two pieces of tissue. As a consequence, contractile force was measured reliably in only one piece of tissue, while in the other developed contractile force was underestimated.

We have corrected the analysis software and performed the analysis again with this new software. We found that with this improved analysis, results significantly changed and did not allow us to draw the conclusions as done in the abstract. We are currently increasing the sample size and hope to draw more reliable conclusions in the near future.

On behalf of the co-authors, I offer you our apologies for this mistake.
