Summary

The degree of bronchoconstriction after acetylcholine challenge in twenty patients with extrinsic asthma was diminished significantly after 3 months' treatment with 1 mg ketotifen b.i.d. Since ketotifen has no appreciable anticholinergic effect this observation is an indication that ketotifen decreases the non-specific bronchial hyperreactivity when administered over 3 months.
