Recently, Reis et al. (2011) report that in Drosophila, the Frost gene is always present within the same intron of the Diuretic hormone 44 (Dh44) gene. The primers we report for a Frost orthologue in D. willistoni actually amplify an orthologue of the unrelated gene Sox102F (that is not within the Dh44 gene), although the accession number mentioned in Table 1 is for Frost (GK11989) that is located within Dh44 gene. Therefore, in Table 1, GK11989 should read GK13587. This does not affect our conclusions, nor our putative consensus structure for Frost. However, values for D. willistoni expression in Figure 6, and the analysis of the amino acid composition of the D. willistoni Frost orthologue presented in Table 2 should be disregarded. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank Dr. Jorge Vieira for bringing this error to our attention.
