Abstract

The author discusses the health care needs and the delivery of health care in Kenya, emphasizing in particular the role and contribution of traditional health practitioners. She also identifies the knowledge and continuous education needed by professional nurses and indicates how they should relate with the community at large. The nurse, it is argued, should be clear about her identity and maintain it without depriving the community and others of their rights and privileges.
