Inactivation of Bacterial Spores by Visible Radiations

Authors

SUMMARY

Exposure to visible radiations results in a decrease in viable count of spores of Bacillus subtilis and Clostridium welchii. This inactivation is partially reversible if a period of storage at 37° in the dark intervenes before plating. The recovery of light damaged spores is improved by the presence of dextrose in the counting medium.
