We owe T. M. Blackburn thanks for suggesting that we run simulations of randomly generated data to test the efficacy of our path model. Although we disagree with his conclusions concerning the use of path analysis for explaining influences on extinctions in oceanic avifaunas, we are edified by the exchange of ideas.
