DNA sequencing with arbitrary primer pairs

  • We wanted to study the population biology and epidemiology of human-pathogenic fungi, but were dissatisfied with extant molecular approaches, and so eventually came up with SWAPP. We are now using it in conjunction with SSCP to test for recombination and clonal structure in two pathogenic ascomycetes, Coccidioides immitis and Histoplasma capsulatum, causal agents of Valley fever and Darling's disease, respectively.
