Table S1 Parameters obtained from the published studies that were simulated and the parameter values used in the model to simulate each study. N is the number of breeding pairs in the population, EPP is the observed extra-pair paternity rate, pat loci are the number of loci used to determine paternity, het loci are the number of loci used to calculate heterozygosity (which include the same loci used in paternity), HO is the mean observed microsatellite heterozygosity in the population, alleles are the mean number of alleles for all loci used (and the maximum number of alleles)
