The paper ‘The local star formation rate density: assessing calibrations using [O ii], Hα and UV luminosities’ was published in Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 405, 2594–2614 (2010). In preparing the manuscript, a typographical error meant that a factor of 1.5 was missing from the denominator of equation (2). Equation (2) should read
This mistake propagated through to the [O ii]–star formation rate ([O ii]–SFR) relations, which are calibrated relative to Hα, and so equation (7) should read
which gives a nominal SFR relation, .
This should then have appeared in the conclusions as
where a=−1.424, b= 9.827, c= 0.572 and d= 1.700, for a Kroupa initial mass function (IMF).
with the values a= 51.201, b=−11.199, c= 0.615 and setting the fit to a constant value below log(M*/M⊙) ≤ 9.0. The correct numbers were used in all calculations, so the published results are unaffected.
