Figure S2. Change in storage container weights between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.; given for one root segment per order (orders 1–4), solution [demineralized water (DW) or 0.5 strength Long Ashton (LA)] and a control (Ctrl, i.e. with an electric wire in the chamber instead of a root). Weight changes were calculated from raw data by subtracting the weight at 11:00 a.m. from the subsequent values. Scattered values were probably caused by an effect of the growth chambers' aeration system on the analytical balance (e.g. full fan speed at full hours).
