Table S1. Name and location of measured sections. Section numbers refer to those on the location map (Fig. 1). The section numeration used by Ricci Lucchi and Valmori (1980) is also shown (RV No.) for reference. Grid references are given using the Gauss-Boaga coordinate system. Exposure quality of each section is categorised into 'complete' sections with no cover (c), 'good' sections with less than fifteen per cent cover (g) and 'incomplete' sections with greater proportions of cover (i).
