Metabolite contents have been analysed by enzyme-coupled spectrophotometric assays and HPLC and are given as absolute values for Risø16 and Bomi (nmol g−1 fresh weight, with the exception of sucrose, glucose, fructose and ammonium which are given in μmol g−1 fresh weight), n = 3–5, statistically different values please refer to Figure 3.
