Abstract: Lipoatrophy (LA) is a rare complication of insulin treatment in type 1 diabetes mellitus. The pathogenesis of insulin-induced LA is still unknown. Many theories suggest immunological reactions. We report a 4-yr-old Saudi girl with LA probably induced by lispro insulin. A review of the literature on the clinical features, pathophysiology, differential diagnosis, and treatment is briefly discussed.
