The authors of ‘Inbreeding, energy use and condition’, vol. 22, pp. 770–781 (Ketola & Kotiaho, 2009) correct here error that they found after their paper was published. Table 3 contained incorrect CVA and CVR values. The correct values, calculated as inline image, are given in the republication of Table 3, below. This mistake does not affect the conclusions of the original paper.

  1. Table shows variance associated with additive genetic effects (σ2a) and residual, unexplained variation (σ2r). Moreover, proportions of these variances to phenotypic variance are represented, as h2 and r2, respectively. = regression coefficient for inbreeding depression. Associated standard errors are in parentheses CVA and CVR denote coefficients of variation of additive genetic variation and residual variation, respectively. Standardized estimates of inbreeding depression include correlation between inbreeding and trait (r), change of trait due to inbreeding standardized to non inbred mean (bμ) and change of trait due to inbreeding standardized to phenotypic standard deviation (bσ). See Materials and Methods for details of construction of condition index, i.e. residual body mass by reduced major axis regression. Note also that total energy budget was square root transformed prior analyses. Statistically significant results are denoted as *< 0.05, **< 0.01 and ***< 0.001.
