28 sounds, belonging to 9 basic call types, were detected in the vocal répertoire of C. cephus. They are essentially “discrete”, but gradation is well developed in close-range vocal exchange. Their physical structure and frequency of emission are modified by aging. Some of their temporal characteristics remain stable and may constitute the perceptual basis for interspecific and inter-individual recognition.
