Preliminary Observations on Eumetopina sp. (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) as a Vector of Ramu Stunt Disease of Sugarcane in Papua New Guinea



A pot trial conducted in 1992 at Ramu Sugar Ltd., Papua New Guinea, indicated that the leafhopper Eumetopina sp. was most effective in the transmission of Ramu stunt disease of sugarcane. Ramu stun:-like symptoms were first observed in test sugarcane plants 9–12 weeks after the introduction of infected insects.
