Max has 20 years’ experience as a tropical wetland ecologist in northern Australia and is past chair of the Ramsar Wetlands Convention's technical panel where the concepts of ecological character and wise use have been addressed. He is also a co-coordinating lead author on the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment reports on wetlands where the concepts of ecosystem services were addressed.
