A substantial increase in numbers of the endangered Grey-crowned Babbler has occurred in one agricultural area where vegetation has been increased by natural regeneration or planting – but not in areas where there has been little increase in habitat area. This positive response to the provision of new habitat at the local scale gives cause for optimism for the future conservation of some of our woodland birds.
