Figure S1. GMR-gal4 allows direct comparison of GAL4 detrimental effects on photoreceptor and central brain structures through GAL4 accumulation under the same regulatory region. One μm frontal head sections from 0-3 (young) and 19-22 (aged) days old flies, grown at 28?C, stained with methylene blue were observed under a light microscope. Note the differential rescue by GAL80 expression in the retina, meanwhile HSP70 and p35 more effectively rescued the brain phenotype.
