Expression levels (fluorescence intensities in arbitrary units) of Preso in neurons transfected with sh-vec, sh-Preso, and sh-Preso + rescue were plotted against the total lengths of dendrites. The linear fit in dark brown is for neurons transfected with sh-vec or sh-Preso (R = 0.61, P < 0.0001). Higher Preso expression in neurons transfected with sh-Preso + rescue showed insignificant correlation with dendritic outgrowth (blue line; R = 0.16 for rescue, P = 0.31), suggesting that expression above the physiological levels does not stimulate additional dendritic outgrowth.
