Table S1. Markers within the BDNF, DRD3 and DRD1 genes, which were selected for analysis of association with smoking. The analysis was performed using the Haploview software. ObsHet, observed heterozygosity; HW pval, p value of Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium tests; % Geno, % of samples genotyped for this marker; MAF, minor allele frequency. Reason for exclusion of this marker from further tests -- if tagged, another marker already provides information about this locus and this marker is deemed redundant; MAF -- markers with MAF below 0.10 were excluded. The border groups alleles identified as redundant by tagger -- bold highlights retained allele. *Alleles statistically significantly associated with smoking, see Table 1 for results.
Figure S1. Graphical display of the LD and haplotype blocks within the BDNF, DRD3 and DRD1 genes. Graphical representation of pairwise measures of linkage disequilibrium (LD), representing the LD relationships among the SNPs analysed, generated by the Haploview software. Red indicates strong LD and blue indicates low LD (high recombination). The relative positions of SNPs are indicated, as are haplotype blocks. See Table S2 for numerical values.
