Thermoregulation and metabolism in a small desert carnivore: the Fennec fox (Fennecus zerda) (Mammalia)

  • *This paper is dedicated to Professor H. Mendelssohn in recognition of his excellent contribution to the biology and behaviour of desert animals.

In controlled laboratory experiments the effects of ambient temperatures on thermoregulation, metabolism, heat balance, heart rate, and total evaporative water loss were studied in the Fennce fox (Fenneus Zerda) from the Sinai desert.
