Cranial anatomy of some Indian cynoglossids: A study in adaptation. Part III. Ligaments

Authors

Abstract

Ligaments associated with the jaws. and suspensorium are relatively well developed on the blind side. Maxilla-ethmoid, maxilla-mandible, autopalatine-maxilla, pterygoid-lateral ethmoid and pterygoid-prevomer ligaments are present only on the blind side. The asymmetrical nature and disposition of ligaments enable the jaws of the blind side to feed effectively.
