Culturing young hybrid embryos on a synthetic medium proved, in four out of six crosses attempted, to be a successful method of overcoming inter-specific incompatibility within the genus Hordeum.
Hybrids of diploid H. vulgare and tetraploid H. bidbosum were studied morphologically and cytologically.
