Chlorogenic acid, tannic acid and gibberellic acid (GA3) all induce floral buds in I. balsamina under strictly non-inductive photoperiods. Floral bud initiation is hastened when 100 mg/l GA3 is used in combination with both polyphenols, the effect being most pronounced with 100 mg/l chlorogenic acid. 1 and 100 mg/l each of chlorogenic and tannic acids increase the number of floral buds also when used in combination with 100 mg/l GA3 as compared with 100 mg/l GA3 alone.
