MEGASPORES WITH MULTIFURCATE AND BIFURCATE PROCESSES FROM OLD RED SANDSTONE FACIES OF TOURNASIAN AGE, FROM THE TAFF GORGE, SOUTH GLAMORGAN, WALES

Authors

SUMMARY

Seven megaspore species referable to the genera Hystricosporites and Ancyrospora are described from rocks of lowest Tournasian age in South Wales. Three species, Hystricosporitespyramidalis, Hystrictosporites proximo-tuberculatus, and Ancyrospora cambrica are new, and Hystricosporites bedfordi is a recombination. Further information is added to previously described species, particularly on the exinal layers. The problems of separating the two genera are discussed.
