Summary
A study of 25 mesonephroid tumours of the ovary is presented. These tumours form a histological entity with a well-recognized pattern. They appear to be derived from the covering ovarian epithelium which has retained competence to undergo metaplasia along divergent lines and there is no support for an origin from residual mesonephric structures. The varying histological patterns found do not allow prognostication for an individual tumour. The most important index in prognosis is the extent of the tumour at operation.
