Summary. Transvaginal ultrasound showed tubo-ovarian abscess in 10 patients admitted for acute pelvic inflammatory disease, and transvaginal ultrasound-guided aspiration of tubo-ovarian abscess was performed under antimicrobial treatment. Only light sedation was required and the procedure was well tolerated by the patients. The short-term recovery of all patients was quick and uncomplicated. This new technique is a useful alternative for the diagnosis and treatment of tuboovarian abscess.
