Abstract

DFMO reduced mycelial growth of the ectomycorrhizal fungus Paxillus involutus. This was accompanied by reduced activities of ornithine decarboxylase, S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase and diamine oxidase, and unchanged polyamine oxidase activity. Although DFMO treatment did not alter putrescine or spermidine concentrations significantly, spermine concentration was substantially reduced.
