This section is collated by Steve Dudley (BOU Administrator). Requests for the publication of information, and other assistance which is considered to be of interest to our readers, will be considered sympathetically. Publicity will be given to relevant grants and awards that can be applied for and to new societies operating within the field of ornithology, birds and birding. Meetings Committee: no changes, membership remains Dr Mark Rehfisch (Chair), Dr Richard Bradley, Dr Allan Drewitt, Dr Baz Hughes, Dr John Quinn and Dr Jim Reynolds.

Ornithological Affairs Committee: Dr Paul Donald has replaced Dr Will Peach and Dr Paul Dolman Joins the committee. Other members remain Susan Davis (Chair), Dr Stuart Butchart, Dr Shelley Hinsley and Dr Phil Shaw.

Records Committee: Andrew Lassey has replaced Dr Tony Prater. The Committee's other members remain Eric Meek (Chair), Dr Tim Melling (Secretary), Andrew Harrop, Ian Lewington, Dr Martin Collinson, Dr Bob McGowan, Grahame Walbridge and Colin Bradshaw (ex officio, BBRC representative).

Taxonomic Sub-Committee: Dr Lars Svensson replaces Dr Andreas Helbig. Other members remain Dr Martin Collinson (convenor). Dr Alan Knox, Dr David Parkin and Dr George Sangster.

BOU/BOC Joint Publications Committee: Prof. Christopher Perrins joins the Committee and Prof. Bob Cheke has replaced Janet Kear as the BOU's Checklist Series Editor. Other members remain Rev. Tom Gladwin (Chair, BOC), David Montier (BOC), Nigel Redman (BOU) and Steve Dudley (BOU Administrator, Publications Manager).

Ibis Committee: no changes, membership remains Dr Jenny Gill (Chair), Steve Dudley (BOU Administrator, ex officio), Dr Keith Hamer, Dr Andy Gosler (Editor, ex officio), Dr Ian Hartley and Dr Jim Reynolds.

The Union is very grateful to those retiring members for their service and warmly welcomes their replacements.

1–3 April 2006. Woodland Birds. University of Leicester, UK. Supported by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, British Trust for Ornithology, Forestry Commission and Forest Research.

This meeting aims to investigate changes to woodlands, including trends in forest bird populations and possible causes for these, changing forest conditions, a review of current woodland management systems, relationships between birds and forest management, the potential impacts of climate change, the long-term changes in other woodland taxa, the relationships between farmland and woodland species, predation, and the impacts of invasive and introduced species.

24–27 November 2005. Avian Disease and the Migration of Birds, Tainan, Taiwan. Recent outbreaks of avian influenza in Asia, Europe and North America have sparked concern about the transmission between birds and humans. The Waterbird Society will sponsor symposia on avian diseases and bird migration focusing on Asia to understand the evidence for transmission between wild and domestic birds. The BOU operates two websites: http://www.bou.org.uk for general information on BOU including conferences, publications, the British List and other Union activities; and http://www.ibis.ac.uk, which is dedicated to the BOU's journal of international avian science, Ibis, with direct access to the on-line version of Ibis.
