Is professor of the sociology of science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also an affiliate member of the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and a licensed clinical psychologist. Professor Turkle has written numerous articles on psychoanalysis and culture and on the “subjective side” of people's relationships with technology, especially computers. She also is the author of Psychoanalytic Politics: Jaques Lacan and FreudS French Revolution (Basic Books, revised edition, Guilford Press), The Second Self: Computers and the Human Spirit (Simon and Schuster), and Life on the Screen: Identity in the Age of the Internet (Simon and Schuster).
