Dreaming and schizophrenia: A common neurobiological background

Abstract

Schizophrenia involves psychological, electrophysiological, tomographic and neurochemical disturbances. All the same characteristics are encountered during rapid eye movement (dreaming) sleep stage, which could become a neurobiological model of schizophrenia.
