Abstract

The authors analyzed qualitative field data collected during a clinical study tour of Kenya. The straight description method of analysis was used. A conceptual framework drawn from anthropology, including notions of world view, holism, culture, cultural relativism, and ethnocentrism, offers a basis for the interpretation of observational and experiential data. The study's significance is its contribution to the growing body of cross-cultural nursing knowledge requred for a future in which a worldwide prespective will be essential to the solution of health care problems.
