Abstract:  The etiologic agents for pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA) are largely unknown, although it has been suggested that foreign antigens such as infectious agents are the pathogenic mechanism. We present a case suggesting a possible relationship between varicella-zoster virus and PLEVA.
