Tursky's (1976) set of pain descriptors for the intensity and reactivity dimensions were psychophysically scaled by patients with either tension, migraine, combined migraine and tension or cluster headaches and by a group of non-headache sufferers. The reactivity descriptors consistently discriminated headache from non-headache subjects and tended to be aligned consistent with the severity of the pain experienced in the various kinds of headaches.
