Supporting Information S1: The supporting information for this article has three sections. The first section provides data tables for all figures in the text for which the numerical data are not already present. The second section lists and briefly summarizes all studies reviewed in the text. The third section reviews prior estimates of integrated circuit content for desktop PCs, shows how these estimates are adjusted in our comparison, and describes two apparent errors in published studies we have identified.
