Engaging Frontline Workers in Times of Organizational Change

Ann Woodward is vice president of Mercy Housing’s Development Consulting Group and directs the organization’s National Supportive Housing Initiative. A fellow of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Children and Family Leadership Program, she has more than 25 years of experience in public and nonprofit service systems, including directing housing-based social services for the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency and administering federal and state pass-through funds for human services, adult literacy, and youth and adult job training for the city of Boston.

In “Beyond Cognition: Affective Leadership and Emotional Labor,” Professors Newman, Guy, and Mastracci further the discussion of contemporary leadership by exploring leadership transitions in public agencies that serve vulnerable populations, such as the abused elder, the neglected child, or the court-involved teenager.
