Consider the following clinical problem: In most hospitals today, it's common for as many as 70 percent or more of women to request and receive epidural analgesia. Because epidural analgesia and anesthesia are becoming more commonplace, hospitals are starting to offer these types of pain relief around the clock, adding convenience and comfort to a laboring woman's situation.
