Abstract

Criteria are presented to evaluate the effectiveness of an infant's contribution to the dynamics of breastfeeding. Systematic assessment of the infant's breastfeeding behavior provides a framework for directing parent education, documenting correct breastfeeding techniques, recognizing problems early, and guiding interventions.
