Table S1. Estimated variance components of developmental and song performance indices for Louisiana and Maryland populations of Achroia grisella. Variance components were estimated using the restricted maximum likelihood method (REML) in JMP 6.0. The maternal effects variance (VM) was calculated assuming that the dominance variance and epistasis effects are negligible. VA = additive genetic variance, VM = maternal variance, VE = environmental variance, VP = total phenotypic variance. Negative observed component was considered as zero.

Table S2. Estimated causal variance components of developmental and song performance indices for Louisiana and Maryland populations of Achroia grisella. Observed variance components were estimated using the restricted maximum likelihood method in JMP 6.0. Causal variance components were calculated following Via (1984) and Groeters (1988). VA = additive genetic variance, V(M+NA) = nonadditive genetic variance plus maternal-effect (commom environmental) variance, VI(A) = additive genetic component of genetic-environment interaction. V(M+NA) = nonadditive genetic component plus maternal-effect component of genotype-environment interaction, VE = residual environmental variance, VP = total phenotypic variance. Negative observed component was considered as zero.
