In their increasing acceptance of various forms of irregular employment, workers' committees are adapting to the neoliberal economy and to the consequent changes in the labor market. At the same time, however, to safeguard workers' rights they express resistance to this reconfiguration in the capitalist economy. Torn between the two positions, workers' committees are forced into a permanently liminal condition, engaged in formulating compromises and ad-hoc solutions. Consequently, the opposition to the harms of irregular employment remains localized and fragmented, further buttressing the new employment arrangement regime.
