ABSTRACT: Fetal echocardiography is the most sensitive tool in detecting the earliest possible changes of the cardiovascular system related to maternal lupus. The institution of aggressive therapy at that time may still be able to reverse the process before permanent fetal cardiac injury occurs. Experience with this technique is described.
