Fifty-six Micrococcus strains representing all the 8 biochemical types were tested on double diffusion in agar gel against Micrococcus immune sera and reference antigen/antibody systems. Eighty per cent of the strains were found to have polysaccharide AβC. The polysaccharide Aβ precipitin line is produced by wall ribitol teichoic acid in which β-linked N-acetylglucosamine is the specific determinant. The structure determining the polysaccharide C activity is unknown.
