What happens when you Google your own name? We have all done it in moments of passing curiosity or vanity, and for most of us it produces little. But for Philip Woodward, statistician and editorial board member of this magazine, it turned up not just a namesake but a whole string of coincidences and another statistician – one whose life and achievements deserve to be chronicled here.
