Sigmar Gabriel, the leader of Germany's main opposition party, the Social Democratic Party (SPD), argues that the EU finds itself in the deepest crisis of its history. To speed up its emergence, it needs reforms that boost growth and increase social justice, rather than focusing solely on austerity measures.
