    Professor of sociology at Northern Illinois University, specializes in research on prisons, research ethics, and computer culture. His recent works include the co-edited volume (with Barbara Zaitzow) on Gendered Control in Prisons, and he is currently completing a manuscript on the male prison experience, Communicating Prison Culture. He has been active in prison reform since 1980.

    Graduate student in the Department of Sociology at Florida State University. Her research interests include inequality, sociology of emotions, sociology of the body, and symbolic interaction. She is currently working on her master's thesis, a qualitative study of self-injury as bodily emotion work. She is also co-authoring a paper with Patricia Yancey Martin and Doug Schrock that examines the emotions of rape work from an organizational perspective.

    Beginning graduate work at Northern Illinois University. In addition to his interests in corrections, political violence, and peace and social justice, he is co-authoring a manuscript on the role of religion in the formation of early prisons in the United States with Jim Thomas and Josh Stone. He is also develops content for online education and is an executive board officer of the NIU student chapter of the American Correctional Association.

    Graduate student in sociology/criminal justice at Northern Illinois University, is conducting research on restorative justice. In addition to two recent publications in the Sage Encyclopedia of Prisons, he is also involved in developing correctional content for modules in interactive classroom technology as well as online course delivery. He is currently the president of the NIU student chapter of the American Correctional Association.
